Terms of use
Effective 17 September 2026
Who we are
This site, ergocards.com, is published by Athens & Jerusalem, [LEGAL ENTITY, e.g. "an imprint of Data Millennium LLC, a Florida limited liability company"]. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use it.
What the site is for
The site is the companion to the ERGO deck. It records, for each card, the argument's name, author, and source, and points to further reading. It is provided for information and reference. It is not a work of philosophy, theology, or advocacy, and nothing on it constitutes advice of any kind.
The arguments, and what we claim about them
Every argument on the cards and on this site is our own reconstruction, composed afresh from primary sources and compressed to fit a playing card. Each argument admits of other statements. We claim that each formulation is logically valid, that the argument exists in the philosophical literature, and that we have correctly identified its author and source. We do not claim that its premises are true, that it proves anything, or that it is the last word on its subject.
No author named on the cards or on this site, living or dead, has been consulted about our formulation, has approved it, or is associated with this project in any way. Where an author is living, the formulation is ours and not theirs.
Objections have been raised to every argument in the deck. We do not present, defend, or answer them; we point to where they may be read. We may make mistakes, and we correct them: errata are recorded at Corrections, and reports are welcome at info@athensjerusalem.com.
Copyright and what you may do with the material
The text of this site, the wording of the argument formulations, the card designs, and the artwork are the copyright of Athens & Jerusalem, except where a third party is credited. The arguments themselves belong to no one; only our expression of them is protected.
You may read, print, and quote from the site for personal, educational, or scholarly purposes, including in debate and teaching, provided that you credit ergocards.com and do not present our formulations as the words of the original authors. You may not reproduce the card designs or artwork, or republish the formulations in bulk, without our written permission. Requests for permission may be sent to the address above and are usually granted for non-commercial use.
ERGO, Ergocards, and Athens & Jerusalem are names we use in trade. Please do not use them in a way that suggests we have endorsed something we have not.
Links to other sites
Card pages link to expositions and criticisms on other websites. We chose them because they are substantive, not because we agree with them, and we are not responsible for their content, availability, or accuracy. A link is not an endorsement.
Buying the deck
Sales of the deck are handled by [VENDOR NAME] under its own terms of sale, available at [LINK TO VENDOR TERMS], which govern payment, shipping, returns, and refunds. These terms of use govern this website only.
No warranty, and the limit of our liability
The site is provided as it is. We take care over accuracy, but we do not warrant that the site or anything on it is complete, correct, or uninterrupted, and we exclude all implied warranties to the fullest extent the law allows. To the same extent, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on anything in it. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and of the United States, and any dispute about them is to be brought in the courts of [COUNTY], Florida. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Union, this does not take away any protection your own law gives you.
Changes
We may revise these terms. The current version, with its effective date, is always the one posted here, and your continued use of the site after a change means you accept it.
